MIET Meerut is proud to announce the successful establishment of a Miyawaki Plantation on campus. This eco-friendly initiative aims to promote biodiversity, enhance green cover, and contribute to a healthier environment.
The plantation drive was led by Rahul Kumar, PhD Scholar, Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, Uttarakhand who meticulously selected and planted a variety of native species suitable for the Miyawaki method. This innovative approach focuses on dense, multi-layered plantations that mimic natural forests, promoting rapid growth and minimizing maintenance.
The Miyawaki Plantation at MIET Meerut will have numerous benefits, including:
-
Enhanced biodiversity and ecosystem services
-
Improved air quality and reduced carbon footprint
-
Increased green cover and aesthetic appeal
-
Opportunities for environmental education and research
This initiative reflects MIET Meerut's commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. By adopting eco-friendly practices and promoting green initiatives, the institution aims to create a healthier and more sustainable future for its students, faculty, and the surrounding community.
MIET Meerut plans to continue monitoring and maintaining the Miyawaki Plantation, ensuring its long-term success and exploring opportunities for further environmental initiatives.
