Presenting, Aaroh- A Musical Journey.

Date: 8th MARCH
Time: 1130-1400 Hours
Venue: Main Ground

There are three separate competitions under the musical competition, AAROH:

  1. Platinum: Solo Singing Competition.
  2. Fugue: Duet Singing Competition.
  3. Strings on Fire: Instrumental.

RULES:

  • Maximum of two teams in each category (for non MIET/ MIT) is allowed.
  • Karaoke tracks for the respective events i.e. Plat’num and Fugue, have to be arranged by the participant by their own and submitted by February 20, 2018 in their respective pen drives.
  • Participants are required to bring their own backing instrument if required.
  • Marking will be wholly upon the quality of singing irrespective of the background music.
  • Participants will be given 3 minutes for “Plat’num”, 4 min. for “Fugue” and 3 min for “Strings on Fire” to complete their performance.
  • Marks will be deducted in case the participant crosses the time limit.
  • The decision of the judges will be final.

JUDGING CRITERIA: Song selection, “Taal” sense, “Sur” sense, Voice quality, overall performance.

RANGMANCH

Presenting, Rangmanch- A Drama Company.

Time: 1030 Hours Onwards
Venue: Main Ground

Truly, William Shakespeare's words do justify the importance of dramatics in our life. To tell you the truth, it is a lone aspect that one seems to adjust, despite the circumstances. Be it the feeling of joy, sorrow or anything. Drama lies in the exaggeration of feelings, an exaggeration that resolves flat everyday reality. Many of the world’s renowned actors have started their journey from theatres and stage play. Kolaahal’18, provides you a platform to discover the dramatist within you. Do you have the calibre to deliver that spell binding performance with a supreme display of direction, dialogues and characters? The stage of Rangmanch presents you with the challenge to be the ultimate dramatist!

RULES:

  • Prelims Stage: ( For MIET students only) Teams have to perform a 5-10 minutes act, which may or may not be a part of their play, on the basis of which top 6 teams will be promoted to the final level.
  • Final Round: The play can be in both Hindi as well as English language./li>
  • The teams must perform a stage play of three or more acts on their choice of theme.
  • The time limit is fifteen minutes, exceeding which shall lead to negative marking and curtain call. (exclusive of 3 minutes of stage adjustment time)
  • The teams will have to bring their own props and recorded clippings to be played during the play.
  • The decision of the judges will be final.

JUDGING CRITERIA: Screenplay, Direction, Script and plot, Acting and Overall Impact



FOXTROT

Presenting, Foxtrot-Just Dance.

Date: 10th MARCH(ROUND 1)
Time: 1130-1530 Hours Onwards
Venue: Main Ground

Dance is the hidden language of the soul of the body. Dance is a way to find yourself and lose yourself, all at the same time. Dancing is like dreaming with your feet, and is a silent poetry. A good dancer does not need wings to fly, they are made not born. The grandstand of Foxtrot provides you the opportunity to show your stature. A chance to create a realm of magic that will make the whole arena go haywire and make them shout out for you. So, feel the warm bass and pulsating beat as Foxtrot is that moment for you!

The event is divided into two categories:

  1. Footloose- Solo Dancing competition
  2. Footlights- Group Dancing competition

RULES:

  • Prelims Stage(for Non MIET/ MIT): A 1 minute video of the participant (Footloose)/ whole group (Footlights, Jam/Performance) must be uploaded to the Google Form by February 15, 2018. The mail must contain the name (group name in case of Footlights, place, number (for Footlights, maximum 14 members allowed) and contact details. The finalists’ names will be displayed by February 22, 2018 on miet.ac.in/Kolaahal’18.
  • Final Round: The participants must submit their tracks by Feb 20, 2018.
    There will be 3 minutes for Footloose, 10 minutes for Footlights.
  • Repetition of steps will lead negative marking.
  • Negative marking on exceeding the time limit along with curtain call .
  • The video must not be more than 200MB.

JUDGING CRITERIA: Music, Choreography, Coordination, Use of props, fusion of styles.



MR. & MS. KOLAAHAL

Everybody loves fairy tales and everybody wants to be treated as a Prince or a Princess. To attain that title and make your dream come true you will have to work hard, portray your dedication and stay determined. Kolaahal gives you an opportunity to rise and stand distinct from others. If you have it, your time is now and your chance is here. It is not just the personality that will take you to the epitome, but the ideology will also play it’s role.

Participation: solitary (as of course).

BATTLE OF BANDS

Venue: Main Ground

A rock band is a mysterious thing. Somehow, every once in a while, few individuals bump into one another. They look exactly right together, share a focus, an aspiration and the right balance of musical similarities & differences. So, do the tunes of your instruments and voice of vocalist complete each other to mould a band for which, other than rock, nothing else matters? Well! The battle of bands is just the competition for your band. Give the audience a breath-taking performance that leaves them with no other choice but to lose themselves and immerse in rock music that they will remember for a lifetime.

RULES:

  • Team has to perform max. 4 songs of their choice which “must” include one song self-composed by the band.
  • Time limit is 25 min for each performance (inclusive of 5 minutes for sound check).
  • Judges can change the rules at the moment according to the requirement.

JUDGING CRITERIA: Synchronization, Choice of songs and quality of voice, Expertise in instruments, Time limit of the performance, Overall performance of the band.

NUKKAD NATTAK

Presenting, Nukkad Natak-The Street Play

Nukkad Natak or Street Plays is a means of spreading awareness. It is basically a form of theatrical performance in outdoor public spaces without a specific paying audience. The purpose of street plays is to put the audience in a better position to understand the world around them. It is the best way to connect with the common man and the youth. These are much intimate, brief, direct and address the social/political message with the help of drama. The catchy phrases and the songs, crisp script, humour and loudness help in making a long lasting and powerful effect on viewers. These plays if targeted towards youth can really stir up emotions, create awareness, utilising our right to freedom of speech and expression positively. It is street play, you have to make it entertaining so people do not get bored and walk away. So, here introducing, Nukkad Natak – A Street Play.

INSTRUCTIONS

General Instructions

Details regarding Registration and Accommodation:

  1. The students of an Institute interested in participating in Kolaahal’18 are required to identify a Group Leader, who will be responsible for the actions of the entire team and shall be involved in all the correspondences with us.

  2. The Group Leader must send an email at kolaahal@miet.ac.in with following details:
    1. Name and address of the college.

    2. Email address for correspondence.

    3. Expected number of Participants.

  3. Note:This email should be sent by the Group Leader of the participating college latest by 23th February 2018.
  4. For on the spot registration following documents are to be produced:
    1. Identity cards of the students.

    2. Two passport size photographs

  5. Registration fee is Rs.200. Limited accommodation (meals and lodging) is to be provided to a few candidates with a fee of Rs.150 per student respectively.

  6. Accommodation will be provided in hostel rooms. Mattresses etc. will be provided at the time of allotment of accommodation.

  7. Authorization letter from their institute permitting all team members to participate in Kolaahal’18. Without authorization letter, entry will not be permitted inside the campus.

  8. Without the invitation letter and identity cards, participants will not be permitted to enter the campus.

  9. All the participants are required to register immediately on arriving at the registration counter. Identity cards of Kolaahal’18 will be allotted after the complete registration.

  10. The list of events in which the participants propose to take part and the number of students (names not required) participating in each event must be properly mentioned.

  11. Teams will be registered on first come first basis.

  12. Any kind of indiscipline will result in disqualification of the entire team.

  13. The teams are required to abide by the rules and regulations.
